HER RETIREMENT

HER RETIREMENT

Her riding days are over, her racing days are through,
now she is at home alone, with her love so true,
she never thought the time would come,
when she would race no more,
but time slowly passes by and gently shuts the door,
it seems like just yesterday, when she ran her first race,
she remembers very clear, she came in first place,
now many races later, as she says her goodbyes,
she thinks about the good times, and tears they fill her eyes,
but there is a man at home, he has waited patiently,
he wipes her tears away, and he does it so gently,
he knows just how she feels, for he has been there too,
so he just holds her close to him, while her heart breaks in two,
it is now a week later and a smile is on her face,
she is oh so happy, and so full of grace,
with her man beside her, she can never fail,
to feel the love inside her, how high can it sail,
her man is also smiling, cause she is there with him,
his eyes are slowly failing, his sight is growing dim,
but they have been together for all these happy days,
and his loss of sight, cannot take the joys away,
now they go walking down the trail, walking hand in hand,
making plans together just how they will make a stand,
she can be his eyes, he can be her strength,
between the two of them, they will go to any length,
nothing can defeat them, for they are as hard as steel,
yet we can see the tenderness, that they really feel,
their strength is in each other, as through life they go,
the glow you see upon them, means they love each other so.
