Nobody Knows

by Lauraballz   Sep 12, 2004

A child, crouched in a corner, shivering, clutching her knees,
Shadows, cascading down her face, like tears,
All sounds, distant to her ears,
Nobody Knows.

A child, sat hopeless on her bed, alone, hands to her mouth,
Flashing, reflecting on her wall, traffic lights,
Her throat, stunned and silent in fright,
Nobody Knows.

A child, laid on a bed of silk, graceful, dressed in white,
Her cheeks, bruised and pale and thin, at rest,
Caressing, flowers on her chest,
Nobody Knew.

A child lay dead,
Still, nobody knew.
