The gates

by Leticia   Sep 12, 2004

There is a gleam of light,
as the knife is held over her body.
The moon sits high above the stars
as the man looks me in the eye.

As I lay there awaiting my death,
crying no longer leaves my body.
My soul is ready to eject itself,
ready to fly away into the dark.

The man just smiles
as one least tear rolls down.
The knife comes quickly,
the puncture is deep.

My screams cannot be heard,
from under these rocks.
Is there anyone out there
to witness this murder?

The blood flows quickly,
so dark and warm.
The man just stands there
smiling with glory.

I feel my body getting colder,
lying there without strength.
My soul is uplifting itself,
ready to fly to the skies.

No life left in my body,
I lie there waiting to be found.
But something dark comes about,
and faces my soul.

The demon blocks the path
that leads to the heavens.
It is not letting my soul
go beyond the stars.

Why are you not letting me go
and be with the innocent?
The good who have earned
their spot up there?

There is loud laughter coming
from inside the demon.
He looks at me with glowing eyes
and smiles just as the man did.

I have done good in my life,
I belong among the clouds.
There is no need for fights
to pass the barrier that blocks it.

The demon smiles at me,
takes me by the hand.
He leads me down below the earth
chains me like an animal.

Silly girl you don't belong up there,
cause there is no room for you.
They do not accept killers
into their gates.
