For Those Of Rwanda

by Robert   Sep 12, 2004

Please tell me what to do,
in whose words do I know what is true?
Why I see people die before me,
who has let death walk among the living free.
Government of great power and just,
gives us no salvation, which we can trust.
My family, friends die by my side,
and I am cast in the darkness only to hide.
What can I say to those who lost all they had,
to the ones with machetes and blood lust that has gone mad.
Now they come to see my people lie dead in our streets,
let their dreams come forth and not let the horror retreat.
In nights I hear the echo of screams and sense their fear,
and in cold sweat I wake and draw little comfort from my fear.
It was a holocaust just like in the past,
but it was mankind that made this last.
There were a few that stepped up to the plate,
and for one I know it ended his fate.
What he did is what we should have done too,
let our convictions of freedom and liberty and right stand true.
We are not alone in this world for I see it every day,
but in the end why should we be each other's prey?
