Perfect?

by Sherry Lynn   Sep 13, 2004

I once was told that I’d make the perfect wife,
But what they failed to see,
Is I am nothing
Without you by me.

I often imagined my life,
You and I married;
Nothing to hide.

I often imagined what it might feel like,
Being in your arms,
Night after night,
For the rest of my life.

I long to feel you close to me,
Your tender kiss upon my neck,
The way things used to be,
Before you ever cheated on me.

I miss our walks,
Our long talks,
I miss holding your hand,
While we went for a drive.

The cooking and cleaning,
I did not mind,
Even the laundry,
I did without batting an eye.

I gave you my all,
Nothing I denied,
But I guess in your eyes,
I was just a fly by night.

Tell me my love,
Would you please?
Will I ever get over you?
Or will you always remain in my dreams?

My dearest love,
Can you not see?
You were the key
To making me perfect.
Now, a perfect wife I shall never be.
