Lessons in Love

by Sherry Lynn   Sep 13, 2004

You taught me two lessons in such a short time,
One was how to open up and love,
The other was why one should never love or trust.

You left permanent scars upon my heart,
Scars that the world now can see.
Scars that will forever haunt the remains of me.

You took my trust and love;
Using them both to shatter me.
You took what I gave so freely,
And in return you gave me much grief and misery.

Why did you have to hurt me?
Why do I still love you?
Especially now after what you have done to me

I now refuse to let anyone near,
Never again will I feel despair,
I only wish I could close this door,
Locking you out forever more.

After all this time,
Through all we have shared,
My heart will remain open,
But only to you me dear.

You hold the keys,
To my heart and soul,
You hold that piece,
That makes me whole.

It has been almost a year now
Since we first dated
Yet to this day
My love for you has never faded.

Please my darling,
Don’t you see?
My love for you
Will always be!
