Identity

by Kristyn   Sep 13, 2004

The weed between the flowers
The black under the light
The tree that's not so tall
The dimmer star at night

People don't seem to notice
The beauty that's within
No one seems to mind
What's beneath the skin

They lose themselves to the battle
We all must one day face
To be accepted as different
Or shunned for things like race

But if we stand our ground
Maybe everyone will see
That being different's not so bad
They'll have an identity
