Unnoticed

by Tina   Sep 13, 2004

The wretched screams of the soul are muffled by the fake laughs of a young girl. Her eyes scream for attention and love, but no one will look past that beautiful smile. Strangers look at her and say I wish I could be like that, but they have no idea. She's just another depressed teenager to confused to go on. The night brings her innermost feelings out to reveal as she reaches for her escape, her knife, her salvation. It's bittersweet. Memories flash before her so she cuts deeper, every slap, every curse; every hurtful thing her bruised heart has dealt with is being revealed one slash at a time. Her fragile body is numb to the once excruciating pain that she now finds a twisted pleasure in enjoying. She hears he father enter and hides the knife under her mattress and rolls her sleeves down around her bleeding wrist. He barges into her room stumbling towards her screaming her name at the top of his lungs. He's come home drunk once again and takes his furry out on this poor innocent girl. His hand is flashing back and forth hitting a new spot on her body each time. She doesn't whimper she doesn't make a sound, for she knows if she does that he'll hit harder. Her “father” leaves the room and the girl starts to bawl. No one cares for her, no one says I love you before she goes to bed, and no one is there in the morning to wake her up. She's alone in this cold harsh world consumed with emptiness and depression. Again she goes unnoticed. No questions are asked, so no answers are given. Just another teenager being abused by her father, just another teenager cutting her feelings away, just another teenager going unnoticed. It shouldn't be this way, it shouldn't be just be another teenager. It shouldn't be a statistic, a common every day thing. She's not just another teenager, she's a beautiful intelligent young women who cares for everyone but in return gets nothing. Where is the love that used to be so known in this world, where are all the caring people, where is your neighbor when they hear your fathers screams and your muffled tears, where are your friends when you take the credit for something they did? Where are you? Are you one of those people who are willing to help, and ask questions? Or just sit there and wonder if this girl will show up tomorrow or not, will she be alive? Do you care? If you do then show it, ask questions and get answers, help someone, so when someone says just another teenager it will be in content of happiness and not depression, relief and not pain, love and not hate. Don't be afraid, they need you don't let anyone go unnoticed.
