Unconditional Love

I remember the moment I found out
I was shocked and so surprised
Couldn’t believe I was pregnant
For days the tears ran from my eyes…
But I had to deal with the fact
Wipe away my tears and stay strong
Even if I wanted to I couldn’t give it up
Because I was too many weeks along…
So I stuck it out for months
While the child inside me grew
I managed to wake up for work
And handle the morning sickness too…
Before I couldn’t even properly process
My body continued to change
My perspectives and my priorities
Were somewhat beginning to rearrange…
I’ll never forget the moment
That my water broke
I was in such a state of shock
I thought it must be a joke….
There was no way in the world
Right now I was prepared to become a mum
Enduring 19 hours of labour
I gave birth to a perfect and healthy son…
The second that I saw him
And held him within my arms
He became my world and my everything
I’d give my life to protect him from harm…
The most pure love you can imagine
Looking into his eyes
Seeing my baby boy for the first time
And the sounds of his first cries…
The pain of it all gone in an instant
No other feeling can compare
To love I feel for my child
Having him in my loving care…
I would never trade him
For all the precious things the world contains
And I could rewind the hands of time
I’d would happily go through it all again…
I give to him my everything
Each day I Thank the Lord above
For the most amazing gift I have ever known
The gift of unconditional love…
