I Promise You Emily

by Seth   Sep 14, 2004

I can't promise you
robes and riches,
diamond chandeliers
in fancy houses with nitches.

I can promise you
I'll always be there,
where you are crying
or have feelings to share.

I can't promise you
rides and cars,
but if love was gasoline then
baby we would go far.

I can promise you
a warm, loving embrace,
even when you're old
with wrinkles on your face.

I can't promise you
the "better" things of life,
and I can't promise you
there will never be strife.

But I can promise you
the best thing from above,
I can promise you,
all of my love.
