Poisonous Monster

by dandy   Sep 14, 2004

It's a monster in a bottle,
and poison in a glass.
This thing may make you feel good for a while,
but it doesn't last.

It's good that it doesn't.
It makes people forget,
who they really are
this monster's a threat.

It makes you feel false happiness,
and do some stupid things.
Even if your normally calm,
it can get you to take a swing.

If your driving, it makes you swerve,
all over the road.
It makes it so your not all there,
sort of like cruise mode.

Your having fun, but it soon will be over
when you kill someone.
You say you didn't mean it and that your sorry,
but the damage is already done.

That monster will cause you to do this,
though you can't recall.
That monster which made you do this has a name,
and it's called alcohol.

I'm young, and I haven't experienced any of this personally and I pray to God I never will. But I've seen the effects of drinking on television and so many other places, and when I get older, I'm never going to drink. Are a few minutes of false happiness worth the death of a person? Think about it. It could be the death of someone else, but that person could also be you.

lol, I just commented on your 'complicated' poem, I'm sure with a reference of being drunk lol...I agree with everything you said in this poem, except I believe that there is a time and place for it. More so, there is not a time, and not a place for it..I had a friend who broke his back while driving under the influence and I appreciate how devastating it can be..fortunately there was no-one else involved but there could so easily have been..anyhow, you poem was a good take on it..you seem so learned lol, how old are you?
