Last Breath

by lyle fortin   Sep 14, 2004

Can it be we're so far apart;
When you're so close to my heart?
Your lips so wonderful and divine;
As I imagine them pressed against mine.
Your eyes so deep, so blue;
That they cause me to melt into you.
Can it be true about you and I, we
Could be so obviously meant to be?
Can you imagine the happiness you've brought;
And the unconditional love to me you've taught?
If I had one last breath to breathe
My lungs it would not leave;
Not until your face I could see
Would the last breath leave me
My love, it would never fail;
Even until my final exhale.
I would fall to sleep never to wake;
Before I go, my heart is yours to take.
As long as your face is the last I beheld
It would only be happiness into which I fell.
