Goodbye

It was a shame that we had to say goodbye
We're no longer friends in my mind

When you stopping calling, I knew it was the truth
That our best friendship was cut loose

You can't stand me
I'm scared of you
Now, this isn't what best friends do

We can try to work it out
See what this conflict's all about

We're not what we used to be
I'm sorry I'm not what you want
Can't you see?

It's driving me crazy
Trying to be what you want me to be

I can't do it my friend
I won't change my ways
Sitting here in the dark, thinking of better days

Remember when we met
Do you remember still?
I do, you gave me a thrill

And I followed you
Like night follows day
Now that's over, we've gone a separate way

It could've been special
We could've been forever
But I guess forever just isn't together

Let's stop this charade
Let's sit back and look at this friendship we made

Do we really want to go on?
Or is this bond already gone?

Maybe we can both change
But then again I don't want to rearrange

And neither do you
Let's start over new

Pretend we're the people from the beginning
Put on a smile, pretend we're winning

If you look deep inside me
I know you will see
Something inside that still wants to be

Everything you ever hoped for
That and even more

It's really hard trying to mend
Everything that has happened from beginning to end

If you remember who I am
This is your best friend
