Forgotten

by Luz   Sep 15, 2004

In a forgotten little corner
Lies a forgotten little girl
A few cuts on her wrist
And she was done with this world

She was so young and fragile
A few months shy of 17
No one will understand
For life is not as it seems

She was a straight A student
And active in sports
But inside it was different
She held secrets of all sorts

When they examine her body
They’ll see all the scars
Everyone tells a different heartbreak
Each one setting the bar

She felt an incredible loneliness
That no words can describe
Never felt a connection with anyone
Which is one reason to die

She was amazingly thin
For she never seemed to eat
She hated her self-image
Ana was her defeat

She was never good enough
Inadequacy was imbedded within
In the game of life
Self-hatred always wins

Defeated she lies
In a forgotten part of town
She’ll never cry again
No more tears will hit the ground

Fabulous poem, at times I feel some of these same feelings, or at least, what I find to be the same. Keep up the great writing.
