Pride

by Robert   Sep 15, 2004

To think highly of what you do,
and to be sure you are the only one that is true.
To take no others word to compare to your own,
you are the only right one left all alone.
You take no other words or advice to guide you where to go,
you insist you are brother to all and seek no foe.
What is it that set you so far apart from those that wish to understand,
is it emotion or pure determination that has brought you to this land.
They say Pride is one of the deadliest sins and hard to compare,
but with this in your mind you feel you're the only one being fair.
If this is the emotion or drive that will consume you to no end,
I think you need to find understanding and compromise my friend.
