Prelude To Murder

by Kevin J   Sep 15, 2004

Like a princess in a tower, jailed by lonely, cursed to stay
Forever searching, never finding, my whole life I lived in gray
Just as I almost surrendered to my fate of stark dismay
My valiant knight in shining armor slay-ed the loneliness away

He dried my every tear drop with a caring warm embrace
Found the smile lost forever then returned it to my face
Made my hearts faint palpitations beat a strong and steady pace
Gave me wings to soar the heaven's, lost in love as vast as space

My protector, friend, and lover, perfect fairytale affair
Burned so hot with molten passion, when we kissed my lips were seared
Then loves fire turned inferno, fumes of brimstone choked the air
And my fairy-tales beginning soon became my worst nightmare

Like Mr Hyde and Dr Jekyll my Prince Charmin's face could change
From a handsome, sweet, and caring to an ugly, mean, deranged
Causing me to walk on egg shells when opposing thoughts exchanged
For I peeped his inner darkness but was clueless to it's range

In the clutches of a madman with no hope of breaking loose
I was forced to be his puppet, and each string felt like a noose
Seeping care from my existence, leaving me a sad recluse
Made to serve his ego only, faking love gave him a boost

It's ironic when we started how he made my fractions whole
Now complete is redivided and consumed by his black hole
Sex became a painful raping taking body, mind, and soul
But tonight I plan to end it and take back what he had stole

Sending me to seek out solace and escape is what he'd done
If I knew he wouldn't chase me I'd have packed my bags and run
Suicide is not inside me so my choice is down to one
I finally settled on the poison not the knife, pick-axe, or gun

Tainted wine by candle light, toasting love but feeling hate
All his favorite foods for dinner seasoned just to seal his fate
Holding back a shout of triumph with each poisoned piece he ate
Is a portrait of what's coming, but for now I'm forced to wait

Stepping out in early evening breathing in the trees exhales
Sitting on the steps I waited praying that my plan not fail
Waving to a next door neighbor as he stopped to get his mail
I saw freedom from my warden and escape from mental jail

Bright horizon slowly darkened and the wind began to sigh
Rain clouds on verge of tantrums warned they'd soon break down and cry
Summer air had turned to frosty in the middle of July
Like a sacrilegious omen it was clear tonight he'd die

Come home to me...
so I can start at last my heart to mend

Come home my sweet...
ex-lover turned abuser to your End...?
