Prince Edger's Story -II

by Ş∂ņďħy∂   Sep 17, 2004

Please read part I before reading this.

The king thought that Edger would recoil like others
Conversely, he approached the nigh dead princess
Willing to trade his life for her effulgence
He looked up with hopes.

His grave pleas made the celestials bent their head
Even Re couldn't chase away the floods of dark
Eros and Cupid watched the helpless pair part
Tears rolled down his eyes.

Aphrodite and Radha were surprised to watch,
This seldom-chaste love in the licentious world
They forced Orthwein and Shai to alter his fate
And let his love win.

The Gods decided to give one final chance
The spell was solid and so he had to die
But, if she would recognize his true love
The late could live on

The princess woke up as if from a long dream
She watched a life fading in front of her eyes
The Gods were waiting for her to recall him
But she left him gone!

Long journeys had turned the prince appear different
She crossed the stranger's dead body and walked off.
She didn't know her life was a grant of his love
True love turned fabled

She left him wander as a ghost forever
He didn't complain but followed her silently
Waiting for the day, she would evoke his love
His love kept waiting!

this was a really good poem. i love how u told a story so well in a poem so heartbreaking. i like how you told how this boy gave up everything for this girl, but was abandoned by her in the end. this story tells how alot of us feel when we encounter things like these through life

  • It may look strange, as I have used a lot of names in this poem. Those names are the names of the Gods in different Myths. I wanted to relate this poem to any Myth. Legends are so interesting that I got stuck up learning about those. I selected very few names on a random basis. Sorry for such a long delay to produce the second part.
    Sun God: Re
Gods of Love: Eros and Cupid
Goddesses of love: Aphrodite and Radha
God of fate: Orthwein and Shai
