Goodbye my Lovely one...

by brin macnamara   Sep 18, 2004

I stare out at the cold dark sea
Grey clouds scurrying by,
Gulls screech as if mocking me in my folly.
My heart is strangled by seaweed while leeches suck out what passion remains.
For my secret love is no more...

You left me with cruel, ill thought out remarks
Smiling you drove the nails deep into my heart.
Into the ocean of despair my heart slowly sinks..
Cold waves flood into my once loving heart
Drowning my ardour, my spirit.
As The icy north wind tears at the sinews of my soul.

Falling tears burn my cheeks
like acidic rain,
Love has died...
My secret love is no more...

Solace eludes me
The night is unending,
Forever winter, never Christmas.
For now nothing satisfies, warms,
contents, nor brings me joy.
My secret love is no more...

My secret love continues her journey with another.
They greet each other with a cold embrace and a passionless kiss.
From a distance I look on:
Aching, mourning and reflecting on what might have been...
Between my secret love..and me...
.

(There can be no kiss at the end of this poem.)
