Our Days (Dedicated to Chris)

It still amazes me how fast life moves
Years later and still together
Never needing explanations
We know this will live on forever

I first met you in sixth grade
We were so immature
We even thought that cooties
Was a disease we couldn’t cure

Seventh grade was a head banger
And basketball was our call
Even though I didn’t like you
You weren’t that bad at all

What started out as a joke
Fell into new emotions
As time grew and days passed
So did the connections

Then maturity began
You got to call me yours
That was over before it started
But eighth grade was surely ours

Different high schools the next year
As freshmen we have grown
Into something better than before
We really set the tone

We sit and talk online now
I wait for the next time you smile
But I know you way too well
So it’ll only be a little while

When I needed to escape
You knew where to be
In my eyes you could tell
If I wanted to face reality

The summers were like magic
We talked about anything
Purely from the heart
Our bonds, tighter than string

When I had to use your shoulder
Never did you mind
Friends like you are hard to keep
And even tougher to find

You were there when I was sick
Through the bright times and dark
We did it together, though
That trail definitely had our mark

I can’t believe we’ve made it
Again through another year
It makes me sad to think
That one day you’ll be leaving here

It’s hard to think about the problems
The ones we can never hide
We always figured something out
Because our friendship is the unbreakable kind

People tried to crack us
But we new they were so wrong
The harder they tried the more we pushed
And with that power we grew stronger

All these hours spent together
Every moment wished for
Up until the day you go
I know I’ll think about you more

We’ve had incredible moments
When we would talk and hang out late
These habits will never change
And we’ll leave the rest to fate

Our pictures will soon fade with time
And I’ll never forget what we’ve shared
We helped each other through fire
And stayed close when no one cared

We never have enough time now
But we’ve shared so much laughter
Eventually, I’ll have to let you go
Though I know I’ll need you forever and after

Thanks for always being there for me Chris. I love you more than you could possibly imagine. I'm always thinking about you and can never get you off my mind because everything seems to remind me of you. We're best friends and I can't believe we've made it through 5 years of friendship. Let's keep it that way.
