Intelligent Species

by Jacob Staly   Sep 20, 2004

Oh woe are we
intelligent as we may be
we think we know, but we are all so blind
we search for things we cannot find
we search for reason where none can be found
we keep on going when we should turn around
we find it so hard to admit we were wrong
we try to solve our problems with the use of a bomb
we have feelings, and yet we are all so mean
we are full of hate, or so it would seem
we have evil thoughts and act without thinking
we cause pain and hurt without even blinking
we think we are so smart, but none of us agree
we argue, battle, and kill with glee
we do the things we know we should not
we even think we won't get cought
our life is painful, and we make it that way
we choose to only see the negative things every day
there is so much in this world to be happy about
but we always ask for more, even though we can live without
If only we would set aside our hate, and learn to love one another
this word would be a better place, one where we actually cared for each other
