The autumn embrace

by Timothy   Sep 20, 2004

God's paintbrush has swept the landscape
With colors of ochre, sienna, and brown
The leaves have already begun to fall
And the temperature has dropped
The drizzle of rain is upon my head
As I walk along deep in thought
I can see that the seasons have changed again
A new phase for the Earth
As I walk through the piles of dead leaves
I wonder if the same is true for you and I
I miss you
And I have so many regrets
A hot tear rolls down my cheek, but
it is the only warmth I feel
I shiver under my jacket, like
the cold of outer space
I question if you will ever come back
For the millionth time
I long for you to be in my arms again
To feel the heat of your body
But for now, all I have is the autumn embrace.
