Birth of a Poet

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 20, 2004

We emerge from wondering wombs
Freeing our souls from silent tombs
Sharing the pleasures and the pains
Of our minds with mortal brains

We free our thoughts, like birds from a cage
Some in serenity some in rage
Expressing feelings with every word
There is no doubt we want to be heard

Some are distracted by the rhyme
Seasons of life time after time
Some just want to speak their mind
Let poetic thoughts unwind

If it is with faith that our heavenly hearts would sing
Would we worry about what tomorrow would bring?
It seems we must believe in the hope of Love
To escape this world and soar above
