Carnie Vendor

by Robert   Sep 21, 2004

I kissed my wife goodbye last night,
so I can set up my place to work at first light.
I pull my trailer up and pay at the gate,
still not knowing my ending fate.
But I have done this in years past,
and the crowds go by fast.
Through singing and sleeping in my cot,
I am quick to sell all that I have brought.
To a couple with a child that would scream,
then to boy who wanted his girlfriend in his person scheme.
I would talk to my competitor around me,
on how we could chase that last dollar that we all see.
Three days of cot sleeping and loud people who want to have fun,
only to hold those green backs when it's all done.
I eat little and talk a lot,
so I can pay my bills that I got.
My hair is long and half shave,
a job I think I will do to my grave.
People say I am nuts to do what I do,
but I bring home that cash which is true.
My arms are sore and I need rest,
but in another week I will be my best.
In my car and trailer riding behind,
It's the cash, the travel, and friends on my mind.
