Person in the Mirror

by Wade   Sep 22, 2004

The person in the mirror is looking at me sadly, lonely, wanting. The look in his eyes longing for the feel of love and the touch of lust.

Hiding behind fog and hair, fearful of all who he reveals his true self to. The smell of fear from his perspiration, the fear of rejection, disappointment, and of not being able to do it.

They tell him "No", "Don't", and "You're going to hurt yourself", he thinks he can't. "I can't", he tells himself.Even though he looks like if he wants to do it, he will be able to do it.

He reeks of self determination and fear, wanting, and longing and wishing for all that he needs.

As I listen I can hear the heartbeat of the person in the mirror and it is strong and hearty. The person in the mirror has all the strengths of a great leader or teacher , but all of the fears of a once great warrior who has seen one to many battles and is scarred for life.

He stands strong, but inside he is a scared hurt little boy crying out for help. The look in his eyes tells me only one person can help him and I am not strong enough to help. He asks me for help, but I can't I need help. I can't help the person in the mirror by myself.
