Your Demon

by Psychopathic   Sep 22, 2004

Sleep.
It's such a dangerous thing.
For what we cannot see comes,
the hand of your demon touches you.

You are powerless.
He haunts your dreams,
your thoughts, your life.

He watches as you wake,
always waiting in the shadows
to jump on you as soon as you lay down again.
He sinks his teeth into your neck,
leaving his venom in your blood.
This venom pulses through your veins,
poisoning your mind, body, and soul.

You wake violently as if from a bad dream.
You're in a cold sweat.
Your heart is racing,
your head is pounding,
the room is spinning.

Suddenly everything stills.
You focus on one thing,
the knife in your heart,
and your demon laughing in your face.

You pull the knife from its flesh sheath.
As your life spills from you,
you split open the stomach of your demon.
As he falls to the ground,
you see your demon is you.
