The wonder

by jamie25   Sep 22, 2004

Looking through my daughter's eyes,
I saw the beauty in the midnight sky,
I saw the amazement of birds flying by,
and i even listened to the wind's gentle sigh,
Then i began to see our blunder ,
Why do we lose that wonder?

seeing things from her point of view,
I eyed the grass covered in it's morning dew,
I smelled the fragrant flowers growing,
And i even stopped to watch the fire flies glowing,
Then i began to see our blunder,
why do we lose that wonder?

Watching how she sees everything
I noticed how lovely the birds can sing,
I spied a butterfly in all it's glory,
And even let the rain pour down on me,
Then once again seen our blunder,
But why do we have to lose that wonder?

That was very cool. Some of the best poems come from reality, but I tend to agree with Hullo. Things won't ever return to that innocence. Maybe that is the reason we procreate? To experience that wide-eyed innocence, even on a small scale as we watch the way our children interact with the world?
