Just another day

by Mephastophilis   Sep 22, 2004

A new dawn, a new day
And the struggle begins yet again
A different day, but the same old stuff
Another day just going to waste

Get up from bed, shower and dress
And get ready for another day of strife
The same routine, the same faces
The same feeling of emptiness inside

Another homeless man
Another McDonald's
Another paedophile out on the loose
Another day where more soldiers die
Another kid whose life is taken is taken too soon

Because there's another drink driver
Who didn't stop in time,
The alcohol slowed down his reaction.
And for this crime, what does he get?
A little fine and some points off his license

Another girl who's anorexic
She wants to be like her favourite singer
She doesn't know
That no one's that thin
But computers can change "reality"

Another woman going under the knife
Her boyfriend says her breast her too small
So she gets the implants, and he's a happy guy
But where is he when there are some complications?

Another grandma
Who's in an old people's home
Her kids say that it's for the best
They don't know about the nurses
Neglecting her, not caring
Whether her sheets are made or if she has eat

Another child being bullied,
Another teenage pregnancy
Another life lost to aids
Just some of the many things, that goes on each day.
Today's just another day.
