Farewell to Arms

by Sarah Ramsey   Sep 23, 2004

A freak accident involving a potato and three knives,
Has left me suddenly without my upper limbs,
And unexpectedly the arm on which my hand relies,
Is gone seemingly on a whim.

Farewell to arms and hands and elbows,
Shoulders are still intact,
This calamity has dealt me quite a blow,
And it is quite difficult not to overreact.

I now have one prosthetic,
But the other is still being formed,
And I don’t look quite so pathetic,
Though I still feel deformed.
