Worst Enemy

by Stumbling Shaman   Sep 23, 2004

I am the one you seek
Hidden behind twisted guile
Always there, master of the game,
Pretending to tolerate your sickly smile.
I am the one who made you think, took you to the brink,
Pushed you over and held you down
Till you nearly drowned in the stagnation
And aggravation that amounts to your life.
I tore away the covers, ripped off the mask,
Fed you lies so you wouldn't ask
What happened to all those dreams I helped you destroy.
I gave you your excuse, I eased your pain, set you up for abuse
So once again you feel the need
To sink and slowly bleed
Unto death

I am the one you seek,
For it is your secrets that I keep.
The questions are within my grasp
But you never seem to need to ask
Why you're swimming in this sea of hate,
Can never escape this f!!!!d up fate.
You don't even hesitate to blame everyone-
Anyone but yourself.
Whinge cry scream deny berate,
Keep on making the same mistakes,
I won't tell....
Why the surprise when you can't escape this Hell?

Who am I, kept so cleverly concealed
So you never quite knew what was real?
Please, for once look at my face!
Whose hair is unkempt,
Whose eyes are filled with such disgrace,
Who is it that is below my contempt?
Oh my, isn't life so unkind,
Putting you very slowly out of your misery.
Such a steep learning curve, so full of disharmony.
But if you insist on being so blind
Then it's really all you deserve.
Now that you realise there was never anywhere to flee,
Tell me reflection, what do you see?
