Til Death....

by Stumbling Shaman   Sep 23, 2004

Once you had clung to me,
Driftwood in your hostile sea.
I vowed to wait,
But you swam away
And embraced a different fate.

You obtained your wings
In exchange for your soul.
The sharks close in,
As your promises dissolve.
You soar above;
I am dragged under.

And so I descend
Into your created madness,
Into indescribable pain.
You spiral towards the sun.
My vision slowly fades,
Obscured by your soul's shredded remains.

As you fly away,
I am left free to think.
You don't yet realise
Our souls remain bound,
Even as I still sink.
And though you rebelled,
Trying desperately to flee,
And we chose our own paths;
In the end
We both will walk through Hell.
After all, nothing is gained for free.

Cold and alone.
Nowhere left to fall.
Lying in darkness,
Waiting for an end.
A feather drifts down,
Then another.
I smile into the Void,
For I know:
Soon, my Angel,
You will be Home.
