Behind Her Smile

by Jacquelyn Raso   Sep 23, 2004

Look behind her eyes
Behind the painted on smile
Emotions are running wild
Tears flood her eyes each night
Soaking her pillow until she falls asleep
Unloved and desperate to be happy
A razor to calm her soul
Crimson rivers carry away her pain
No one knows what lies behind her smile
Pain has consumed everything she once was
Curling up into a ball just waiting to die
To disappear from this world of despair
Falling into darkness
Fading into nothing
Leaving all her pain behind
Cutting her strings and disappearing forever
Never coming back to the painful life she once knew
