Consider the Limpet

by Amerimov   Sep 24, 2004

Consider the limpet
So small and insignificant
Full of anger and strife
It returns day and night
What can the limpet tell us about life?

Consider the limpet
It travels its rock
Eating small vegetation
And creating its dark world
It has no time for contemplation

Consider the limpet
Whose predators are many
Starfish ready to make it a meal
Protect, Survive, Instinct
What can the limpet feel?

Consider the limpet
Small and frail
Preying on weaker life
Not at the bottom, not at the top
Living just to avoid the knife

Consider the limpet
It lives life in fear
It hides behind its shell
The limpet is soft and alone
To us, about life, what can the limpet tell?

lots to love about this one. but to be perfectly honest.. the thing that stands out the most is the title. The title alone says everything you have said in the lines under it - plus the title just sings (i know you probably have no idea what i mean by that..lol.. but it just rings in my mind). love it. sometimes a title speaks 1000 words.
