The cry no one can hear

by Heather Clark   Sep 24, 2004

On the outside she laughs and smiles.
On the inside she's screaming and crying.
This perfect little life everyone thinks she has
is a world of lies, she can not escape.
Her mother's always sleeping around,
and to in love with drugs to care about her daughter.
Her father she has never met.
No one knows the pain she feels,
it runs deeper everyday.
She's crying out for help,
but nobody answers because her laugh sounds so real.
She laughs harder
to cover up her thoughts of suicide.
Her sweet 16 was 3 days ago,
but it's not so sweet
when nobody's around to care.
She keeps her smile bright and cheery
while she wonders why live.
Today she went to her best friend
telling her she wanted to die.
Her friend was scared
and changed the subject
making plans to study together tonight.
Her friend shows up
and when the knock was not answered
She knew something was wrong.
She pushed the door open
ran up the stairs
fell to her knees
to see her best friend dead.
There was a note saying:
"Do not cry for me
Do not beg and plead,
Do not be angry,
For now i am free
Of this pain bottled so deep."
Now her best friend blames herself
"If only i would have listened enough to care"
