Cascade

by Stephen Levant   Sep 25, 2004

A thousand million points reflect in the night sky. Twinkling through the haze, image distorted by atmosphere, I see each star a tear of light. My soul rises high as I commune with a weeping universe. Tears shed over the joy and folly of man blanket the inky night. Simultaneously propelled to the heights, and plunged to the depths over the myriad complexities and failings of humanity, I see an anchor in a storm.

I find her my anchor. Through her, T see my connection to all things. To me...she is gossamer though in reality not possessed of such wings. I'm not like an island but rather a grain of sand, one of thousands connected to thousands, upon a beach. I am a raindrop falling, connected with others as it falls, gaining strength.

We strike the ground with force. Eventually, we find our way back to the heavens from whence we came. Scarcely noticed;no fortune or fame. She is my anchor. I am her anchor. Twinkle million points of light. Plethora of energies, through day and night,...cascade.
