I saw her today...running across the playground
she stopped just a few steps away
gazing up at me with those bright blue eyes
i smiled at her then turned away
she wavered a few more minutes, then run in the other direction
what did she think of me, sitting here, worried about nothing that's important
letting life pass me by...scared to even take another step
she had no worries, felt no pain, and the only thing that was on her mind was the jungle gym
i wanted to be like her again
free...
it was all so easy back then...
i took off my jacket and ran to join in
they looked at me like i was insane...hesitated, but then asked me if i wanted to play
their parents stared, mesmerized
they didn't know how much i needed..
that one smile from that very special little girl
