Autumn

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 26, 2004

Oh sweet autumn, you are time of reaping
The beauty of bright colors and their fruit
Many leaves will fall as the trees are sleeping
With beautiful colors, few would refute

Seasons are beautiful rhythm and rhyme
Is their timeless beauty somewhat shallow?
Can beauty somehow be frozen in time?
Each cycle of life is it all hallow?

Hallowed is our heavenly Fathers name
Who created the seasons on earth.
The beauty of creation does proclaim
To us the mystery of death and rebirth

Yes, I have heard it said, as some allege
That beauty on this earth does not run deep
Natural beauty walks a razor's edge
It 's only the memories we may keep

Was there an autumn before the first fall?
When Adam and Eve would have to leave
Would a winter have to come to us all?
Life without a fall is hard to perceive

If we bear good fruit, we shouldn't fear the reaper
We can be saved by the grace of our Keeper
