Lead You In

by Unseen Exposure   Sep 26, 2004

I still recall the day,
And your few last fading hours,
Looking around your room,
At all the "Get Better" flowers,

You were in everybody's prayers,
We hoped for your survival,
But secretly God was planning,
For your awaited arrival,

I kissed you on the forehead,
As you gasped for every breath,
I felt a stinging in my heart,
As I thought about your death,

I remember your eyes were glassy,
Your hands were cold and numb,
Your face was pale and heavy,
And we knew your time had come,

I laid by you for so long,
I cried for hours on your chest,
Praying to hear just one more beat,
From the heart that God had blessed,

I looked up at your broken face,
Hoping to see a smile,
But there was just a blank stare,
From the eyes of a lifeless child,

I remember being at your funeral,
And laying a single rose,
While the priest said his prayers,
The ones that everybody knows,

I saw your little coffin get lowered,
Into the ground to rest in peace,
I knew that you were with God now,
And your pain had been released,

I just can't imagine why,
He would take just a little girl,
That had everything to offer,
And all the hopes and dreams in the world,

She was different, she was special,
And everyone around her knew it,
We all prayed after the accident,
That she would pull through it,

But now I stand here at your grave,
And I still can't believe you're gone,
God took you away from us,
And now you're where you belong,

I'll miss you now, forever,
My heart keeps your memory within,
But I know you're with God in heaven,
So may the angels lead you in ...
