Do not wait

by ~*^*~ longing to belong ~*^*~   Sep 26, 2004

Imagine a world that is so hot and bothered,
The flowers turn limp and trees become smothered.
Such a blinding sun that you cannot see,
You must live inside because you are not free.
Imagine if there was nowhere to play,
No friends to go and see today,
A world so quiet you can hear yourself think,
What happened to life and what is the missing link?
No cats in the garden, no birds in the trees,
No cars on the roads, no boats on the seas,
No children at play in the park,
No light ahead- the path is dark.
All because of a few accidents,
A few problems and incidents,
Nothing to worry about it will be fine,
Is what they all said at the time.
How selfish they were,
Other lives to defer,
The litter they dropped,
Pollution un-stopped,
Air to hard to breathe,
But still no-one believed,
That it could come to this,
That it could, and it would.
No-one could see the pain they were causing,
Could not tell who they were hurting,
All because of a few saved minutes,
That got everyone into bad habits.
They were the people,
Who caused the trouble,
The ones who were living in their own dream-world,
Blissfully unaware until as a flag their problems unfurled.
Pick up your litter,
Whether a townie or a skater,
It makes no difference,
It will stay on your conscience.
Close your doors and keep in the heat,
The world don’t need more, it’s already complete,
Whenever possible walk rather than drive,
I promise you this: you’ll feel more alive,
And although one person won’t make much difference,
If others follow we’ll all have a chance.
So, to summarise,
I would like to advise,
You people, before it’s to late,
To help your world now and DO NOT WAIT!!!
