HURRICANE JEANNE

HURRICANE JEANNE

We moved down to Florida, to live out a dream,
but we never counted on hurricane JEANNE,
She blew into town at midnight, one night,
it was pitch dark, not a soul was in sight,
the wind was blowing, up came a storm,
lasted all night, till daylight was born,
there was no power, so we had no t.v.,
with just a flashlight, we barely could see,
the rain came in a steady down pour,
wasn't long till the water came right through the door,
the water kept rising, was up to my knees,
soon up to my hips as slick as you please,
still the rain kept on falling, trees were blown down,
the roofs were leaking all over town,
the winds kept rising, till they were just a roar,
must have hit a hundred miles an hour or more,
we were lucky that I had a boat,
out on the back streets that baby did float,
out of the wind some shelter I found,
so much debris was blowing around,
signs were toppled, the traffic lights broke,
people in shelters but nobody spoke,
they were all worried about their home and their car,
most just happy they were where they are,
when the big storm was over, we saw a bad scene,
and that was the carnage of hurricane JEANNE.
