A Child's Fragile loss

by Shædow Poet   Sep 30, 2004

Mama, where's Daddy gone?
Will he be back soon?
Mama where have YOU gone
Why are you frozen in your room?

Mama, why aren't you talking?
Why is there red on the floor?
Were you painting the tiles
And then took a nap or a fall?

Why are you not breathing
Why is your heart so still?
Why did I hear yelling
Why did Daddy say he'd kill?

What was that black thing
That made you say 'put down the gun?'
Why did you collapse after the bang
And then why did Daddy run?

Why can I hear sis screaming
And calling the cops
Why can I see her crying
And see the runny drops?

Why if I look a little closer
Does this red stuff look like blood?
I remember that time I tripped over
And the red stuff made a puddling flood.

Get up mum, it's nearly morning
I have to get ready to school
You said I could never be late
You made it as the houses rule!

I wish Daddy didn't take the car
And the money you won from the fair
Did he want to be selfish?
I thought you told me he really cared!

Mummy I really, really need you
To wash away sisters pain
Can you please get off the floor
So we can start today again.

true beauty comes frome death and the beauty you brought to life in words is indescribable by words... i liked the structure and how you managed to make the rhymes work every time... keep up the good work...

    sincerely,
