You won

by Mild insomnia   Oct 2, 2004

The lights are off, and yes I'm home,
I'm sitting here, right by the phone,
Wishing I had the sense to leave you.
Always the same thing, every time,
You leave me hanging, on the line,
And still I'll do as you ask me to.

I'll ask you how high,
If you simply say jump,
I'm broken inside,
You know that you've won.

The lights are on, and no I'm not home,
Right beside your house, yet out alone.
I'm just inches away from the doorbell.
Still I'm standing here, I can't go in,
Shout from upstairs, and make me ring,
I'm knocking on the door, to depths of hell.

How many times?
If you ask me to run,
I'll follow the lines,
And straight back I come,
I'll ask you how high,
If you simply say jump,
I'm broken inside,
You know that you've won.
