Asphyxiated

by Chloe   Oct 3, 2004

Alone in this darkened place,
cold, so cold, I shiver,
words of darkness asphyxiate,
cruelty has formed a river.

A river of blood
forms a shining crimson mark,
nothing is left here,
it's endless dark.

I want to escape,
feel the sun warm my face,
but I'm being held back
by this hole of disgrace.

I get down on my knees,
so silently I plead,
this is my destiny,
for my shattered wings, they bleed.

I am slowly being drowned
in the river of hate,
I try to pull up,
but I see it's too late.

I can barely breathe,
yet I cry for help,
for this destiny is worse
than life itself.

Suddenly I see something,
a beautiful light,
I reach out to touch it,
it's real, it's bright.

Tears of happiness
blur my darkened eyes,
someone has heard
my crimson cries.

I lay in the grass,
I look up at the sky,
this is true beauty,
seen with the eye.

The butterflies are flying
as the flowers form a dance,
for life has given me
a second chance.
