There's no business like show business

by Missing Angel Juan   Oct 4, 2004

Sell yourself to people
With morals to be shamed of
A size but of a common nail
Hollow promises of wealth and fame
Your kisses for a million dollars
But your soul for a stick of cancer
Inside the dark red lips
And sad black rimmed eyes covered with the stars
Under fluorescent glitter when the sun left the sky
Is the rotten fath that you were sold in Sunset Strip
And a fake lotto ticket that won you tears
The magic powder the colour of the clouds
And toxic fluids that dance in your tired veins
Underneath intoxicating liquid and poisoned beauties
Lies not a face, but decaying smiles and bloodied money

***

For Marilyn Monroe 1926-1962
"Hollywood is the place where they'll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul."

Damn good work, yaar? So sad, her death. She was soooooo pretty. Think of everyone she inspired, like Gwen Stefani (another pretty one). Still, damn good poem.
