The Nondescript Boy

by Steve   Oct 5, 2004

You see him everyday
Walking the mile to a distant place
With that girl up the street
An eager bounce in his steps
A hopeful glint in his eyes

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

You spot him each day
On his lonely promenade
Alone, a trudging shadow
A burdened staggered pace
Dark hues under his eyes

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

He smiles and laughs
An act, a charade
A mask for the parade
His tears and sighs
Hidden away like an ore
Eating away his core

Fractured and broken
A confused, tormented soul
Familiar of sorrow
Stranger of joy

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

He cries himself to sleep at night
A voice whispers in his head
There existed something beautiful
(or perhaps still exists)
Which he once understood
But has long since lost

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

The voice is but a murmur now
Nothing but a mellifluous undertone
He is but a shell
Nothing but silhouette

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

One day
On his lonely promenade
He left
Gone from this world
Yielding no satisfaction to this place of woe
For having hurt him so

To you, he is just a nondescript boy

Did you see?
If you did
Did you care?
Or did you turn away, and pretend you never saw?

Because,
To you, he is just a nondescript boy

* Personally, I thought this poem was a total failure, but my friend thought it was good, so I decided put it on here anyways...and plus...its not lik anyone cares about what I think or what I feel...there are just too many defeated people in the world.

"Do you see?
If you did
Did you care?
Or would you turn away, and pretend you never saw?"
