Right or wrong?

Almost a year has passed,
Since I saw you last,
The punishment which I face,
The shame that forced my heart to race,
The love for them that I once had,
Seems to have finally turned bad,
But even though it’s been so long,
I still can't decide if I was wrong.

If I was right to leave,
If I was wrong to ever believe,
That all this trouble could be sorted,
If their visions could be un-distorted,
If they could see me for who I am,
The real me and not the sham,
I wish they could have let me alone,
I wish they could see how they moan.

Because now it is too late,
We are all subject to fate,
Your innocence has been slighted,
And I have been so frightened,
That I left and I’m not going back,
The bravery for that I truly lack,
Sometimes I wish I had been stronger,
But really I know I could cope no longer.
