Soul Behind the Smile

by dandy   Oct 6, 2004

She smiles her sweet smile,
but she is suffering...no one knows.
She wonders if it's still worth while,
to continue the guise of happiness she bears.

Civil wars within her, never cease to quiet down.
She is plagued so often with sadness,
that smile should be a frown.

Her soul is suffering greatly,
not even her friends understand.
She feels she cannot trust them lately,
with the despair she holds inside.

Sooner or later her smile will fade,
then maybe her friends will know.
They'll begin to see that she's afraid;
only then will she find sanctuary.

The soul behind the smile is sad.
She's always feeling depressed.
She's sick of the emotional clad,
which refuses her withered soul rest.

She will learn about feelings,
and she will learn about her soul.
Only when she learns to cope with her dealings,
will she let her true content smile show.
