Truth

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 7, 2004

Truth is constant, yet sometimes difficult to receive
As it seems in the old story of Adam and Eve
The truth was stolen by the evil one who came to deceive
And bury the truth in the paradise they would have to leave

Although there are fragments of truth I have come to believe
The whole truth is still more difficult for me to perceive
While some focus on the cloth, and not on the weave
Others know a truth, but conceal it in their sleeve

Unpleasant truth can be quite a peeve
To escape truth only causes us to grieve
Truth comes from givers, not from ones who intend to thieve
And cause us to descend from the truth, not to up heave

Sometimes we think of a truth, as if it could be conceived
Sometimes we think of the eternal truth that could be retrieved
From the "Garden of Paradise", where we were first deceived
If we could unbury that truth, we would be very relieved

To discover the beauty of sweet relief
That comes from a simple belief
That God will protect us from the evil thief
God loves us and wills us no grief
