Lost soul

by TrUtH hUrTs   Oct 7, 2004

Mellow hues of a blood red sun,
Caste crimson shadows on my grave.
Acrid whiff of forgotten memories,
Embrace me tenderly as I lay-
A lost soul, lingering on
Tell me my love, where I went wrong

The tall grass bends its tumid head,
Anxious to cover my disfigured face.
Flowers soaked in tears, spread
Their fragile petals upon my resting place.
A lost soul, lingering on,
Tell me my love, where I went wrong

The ashes of my heart lay scattered on the ground
They pray in silence for panacea to be found
Creepers intertwine my cold , lonely home,
The moss obscures, my ornate tombstone.
A lost soul, lingering on
Tell me my love, where I went wrong

My bleeding epitaph seeks to hide,
From the inferno of your opalescent eyes.
And as one by one the days fade away,
The pain ebbs too, but the scars shall remain.
And still I sing our forgotten song,
A lost soul, lingering on
Tell me my love, where we went wrong

  • I have read some of your poems. They are good. I will try to find some time to read your poems regularly. I like the images you create.
I like your choice of vocabulary. It doesn’t look forced but elegant. With no question, this poem deserves a 5.
