Oh October

by Amanda Loraine   Oct 7, 2004

Heads fell low
as if
buds of dieing roses
They never knew
October
packed days cold
as the
deepest ocean blues
The brittle air
laced
their hears with
impossible
compromise
Eyes were tougher
than a
bucket of nails
Clenched fists
hung
helplessly
never losing their
heated flair
Living in the moment
never stung their
ears so sweetly
Temptation
whistled through her
body
like a warm
summers breeze
Their words seemed
to have dangled
at the
empty doorway
Not even her
precious
heart melting smile
could cut the
thick tension
They hit a
bitter brick wall
in their
fantasy fairytale
October caught
their hearts by
smooth surprise
Her mind a train wreck
his as clear
as glass
One more kiss
Their lips
pressed together
for the last time
The passion was
obvious
Still they knew their
love was
falsely fading
He cried for the
memory
she gave him
She cried for the
memories
that he took away
Their goodbyes
were as heavy
and
unwanted as a
funeral
Never to make
love
Never to laugh
again
October was their
tragic end
