Wishing Well

by jamie25   Oct 8, 2004

A sad little boy in worn out jeans,
walks up thinking of far off dreams,
his baseball cap shadows his face hiding the bruises,
his little heart already knows in this game he always loses,
yet he keeps hoping and wishing to get out of this hell,
Throwing his penny to the bottom of a wishing well.

A woman stands alone , her divorce is pending,
She always thought of their love was never ending,
She feels hopeless, yet she still dreams,
she won't ever give up on love it seems,
though her whole life love has taken it's toll,
She hopes she finds the real thing before she gets too old,
She hopes and hopes to leave this lonely hell,
Throwing her penny to the bottom of a wishing well.

Somehow ,someway , even in the worst circumstances,
People tend to give there dreams another chance,
we have this thing way deep inside,
call it being stubborn ,call it pride
we refuse to give up fighting with all our might,
hoping to someday see that light,
To pick up the pieces of your life that shattered and fell,
and left you to throw your penny to the bottom of a wishing well.
